Quarter Yard Indigo Fabric, Hand Dyed Wax Batik Material, 100% Organic Hemp Linen, Quarter Yard

Regular price $20.00

If you haven't tried hemp organic fabric, you are in for a sewing treat! This fabric is a finely woven hemp fabric with a linen weave. The threadcount of 54 by 54 makes for a very smooth finish and soft drape. Combine that with natural botanical indigo, and the result is a gorgeous fabric that is unique and one-of-a-kind.

* 100 percent hemp fabric

* Linen weave

* Preshrunk and colorfast

* easy to hand needle

I created this hemp linen fabric by first waxing the fabric using a melted wax resist in a beautiful motif. I then dipped the fabric into my indigo vat multiple times to achieve a dark blue. Where the wax cracked during this process, indigo seeped in and bonded with the fibers, adding to the beauty of the cloth.

Why use organic hemp linen? Hemp is a fiber that can be grown with far fewer pesticides, herbicides and water than cotton. It grows quickly and chokes out weeds growing around it. It is considered to be one of the most sustainable fibers currently available.

You can use my fabrics with confidence, knowing they will not bleed color or pucker from shrinking after you sew with them.
